The Houston Colt .45s were an expansion team in baseball’s senior circuit and began play in 1962. They replaced the AAA Houston Buffaloes who moved to Oklahoma City and became the 89ers, a farm team of the new Houston club. In 1965, the Colt .45s moved into their new home, the Astrodome, and became the Astros.
